TILE AND STONE CARE

Keep your floor looking its best by following a regular care and cleaning schedule.

How to Keep Tile & Stone Clean

3 easy steps to keep it clean. Have a weird spill? Use our calculator for custom instructions.

Use Protective Mats

A good quality entry mat works to trap dirt, sand, grit and other substances such as oil that will otherwise be tracked onto your floor. These mats will also help protect tile or stone floors from premature wear. Mats are also suggested at heavy pivot locations, like in front of your kitchen sink or stove.

Recommended Cleaning Products

Tile and stone are some of the easiest flooring products to keep clean! As a leading flooring manufacturer, you can trust our proven hard surface cleaners.

Use Protective Pads Under Furniture Legs

Protect your tile by applying felt or similar pads to the legs of any metal, iron, wood, or plastic furniture that will be placed on the flooring. Keep in mind that if your new floor is for your outdoor patio or porch, exterior metal furniture may rust and result in stains. Using furniture pads will help prevent this.

    • Spot Cleaning: Use our Spill Calculator to search for hard-to-clean spills and use Shaw Floors Hard Surface Cleaner for spot-cleaning.

    • High Traffic Areas: Sweeping, dusting or vacuuming removes dirt or grit that can scratch or dull the surface. If you choose to use a vacuum, be sure to turn off the vacuum beater brush or raise it so it doesn’t damage the floor.
